|Cancer has been estimated to be the second leading cause of
death worldwide. While great advancements have been made in
the treatment and control of cancer progression, significant
deficiencies and room for improvement remain. Hence there has
been a wide search on various biological sources to develop
a novel anti-cancer drug from plant sources. A myriad of many
plant products exist that have shown very promising anti-cancer
properties in vitro, but they need further evaluation.
While scientists are still attempting to explore the bioavailability
of anti-cancerous compound in unexplored plant species this
database provides them with useful information of the plants
used and the bioactive compounds. It is therefore anticipated
that plants can provide bioactive compounds for the development
of new “leads” to fight cancer.
